The West Plains School District hosted a statewide Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Showcase on campus on October 23rd. Teachers and administrators from around the area and state attended as well as the Department of Elementary & Secondary Education, National PLTW leaders, state leaders, DRS administration/staff, and numerous districts from around the area. The showcase began with breakfast and an introductory session by the Missouri PLTW Director. A tour included all components of PLTW, including LAUNCH (PK-5), GATEWAY (6-8), and Biomedical, Engineering, and computer science. The showcase highlighted student innovations and their ideas on how to solve real-world problems. The showcase concluded at the West Plains High School Library with a follow-up session on the topics of implementation, funding, and support.
The West Plains Elementary was named a PLTW Distinguished school last spring. We were very honored to host the showcase in our district.
