Second Grader at West Plains Elementary Wins State Handwriting Title
Luke Skeeters has been named "Missouri's Second Grade-Level Winner" in the 27th Annual Zaner-Bloser National Handwriting Contest. The contest gives students in kindergarten through eighth grade the chance to showcase and receive recognition for their handwriting skills in manuscript or cursive. About 280,000 students nationwide participated in this year's contest.
A student in each grade is chosen as the state grade-level winner. The prizes include an engraved state winner medallion for Luke, an etched glass diamond award for his teacher – Mrs. Land, and a $200 Zaner-Bloser gift certificate for the West Plains Elementary.
Luke will now compete for the title of Grand National Champion. Congratulations to Luke on this great achievement. We wish him the best of luck in the national competition.
Special thanks to McDonald's of West Plains for sponsoring this program in our schools!
