West Plains R-VII Hosts Legislative Forum to Strengthen Education Advocacy

Dr. Wesley Davis, Superintendent of the West Plains R-VII School District, held a Legislative Forum, facilitating a legislative luncheon between state representatives Lisa Durnell, Bennie Cook, and Matthew Overcast, along with Senator Brad Hudson regarding educational matters. This included area superintendents and administrators who advocated for the interests of public educational institutions and student welfare. This also included the presence of local school board members, state supervisors from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), and various Howell County elected officials.

The event's success has prompted plans for an expanded forum next year. Addressing the group, Dr. Davis emphasized the importance of the group's efforts in fostering relationships with legislators, stating, "It is important that we work together to establish connections and relationships with our legislative representatives. They need to know who we are; not just hear from us when we need their assistance.”  Dr. Davis also extended his gratitude to Mr. John Dern of the Junction Hill School District for his role in coordinating the legislators' attendance.

The district extends its appreciation to the legislators, educational leaders, and regional officials for their engagement and attendance today.
