In Second Grade, we will focus on the necessary basics of Reading with our reading series called Journeys. We are very excited about this program as it incorporates all of the Language Arts such as Reading, Writing, and Spelling. We will be starting a great, new Math program called My Math. Also the subjects of Science, Social Studies, Handwriting, and Health will be addressed! Cooperative teamwork and class discussions will be utilized in all subject areas. Lessons and concepts will be practiced and reinforced through games and activities.
About the teacher:
My name is Amy Cunningham, and this is my nineteenth-year as an elementary school teacher at West Plains Elementary.
I graduated from Southwest Baptist University in May 1999 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. In the spring of 2000 I began working on my Master’s Degree in Education. I then completed my master’s degree in the spring of 2002.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, eating ice cream and walking. (I have to offset the ice cream somehow!)
If you need to speak with me:
I know that sometimes parents and/or students have questions that need to be answered promptly. Please feel that you can contact me at school. You may leave a message for me at the number provided below and I will return your call. Also, you may get a hold of me at email@example.com. I try to check my email frequently throughout the day. Instead of your child worrying about an assignment, use the phone or computer and together we can quickly find a solution.
If you need to discuss a more serious academic or social problem, please feel free to schedule a conference by calling the school at 256-6158.Class Rules

Severe disruptions such as fighting, talking back or bad language will be directed to the office.
