Jim Thompson -2025

A 1969 graduate of West Plains High School, Jim Thompson dedicated 37 years of service to the West Plains R-VII Board of Education. First elected in 1987, his leadership was defined by a student-centered approach, steady presence, and a long-term vision that helped guide the district through decades of growth and change.
Thompson's professional journey included work in radio and cable television with the Neathery family, co-ownership of Schwegman Office Supply, and service as Assistant Director of Development at MSU-West Plains. He later continued his career with Air Evac, supporting critical services across the region.
Deeply committed to his community, Thompson is a charter member of the Sunrise Rotary Club, a founding member and vice president of the Community Foundation of West Plains, and an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He also mentored local youth for years through Boy Scout Troop 61.
A proud father and grandfather of West Plains graduates, Thompson's legacy is one of service, leadership, and devotion to public education. His induction into the Zizzer Distinguished Hall of Fame honors a lifetime spent helping shape future generations.
