State BETA Convention Results
The West Plains High School Beta Club attended the Missouri State Beta Club Convention over the weekend in Springfield. A total of 71 WPHS students attended and competed in academic, speech, visual arts, media, and onsite art competitions and competed against nearly 3,000 Beta members from across the state.

Sabrina Parrish & Janet Cancino Recipients of Rural Schools Collaborative Grants in Place Fellows
The Rural Schools Collaborative recently announced West Plains Elementary co-teachers Sabrina Parrish and Janet Cancino, have been named 2019-2020 Grants in Place Fellows on their project: W.O.W.-- Westward Expansion Overwhelms Wildlife Habitats.

Special Services Department Excels in Review
The West Plains School District Special Services Department was notified of its 2019 annual determination under Section 616 of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) and has been placed in the category “Meets Requirements of Part B of the IDEA.”

West Plains School District Teachers, Staff & Students Donate to Foster Children for Christmas
or the 11th consecutive year, West Plains School District teachers, staff, and students have sponsored foster children from the 37th Circuit for Christmas. This year, the district sponsored over 50 children who are currently in foster care.

Speech and Debate Tournament Results
The West Plains High School Zizzer Speech and Debate team competed at the Springfield Catholic Invitational December 6th & 7th. The team placed 10th overall.

Clear the Air - Stop the Vape
The West Plains School District has launched “Clear the Air”, a campaign to discourage vaping. The hope is to educate students and families on the consequences and dangers of vaping.

South Central Career Center Makes Apprenticeship History
The South Central Career Center has recently become a fully Registered Apprenticeship Sponsor school with the Department of Labor. Missouri is second in the nation for youth apprenticeships, and SCCC is the first school in the state of Missouri.

Make sure you ‘follow’ your child’s school to get notifications, info in the stream, and see that school’s calendar.
- Once in the app, click the ‘settings’ icon
- Click on “Follow Schools” and then select the schools you would like to follow.
- Under each school, make sure that you have marked “Receive Inbox Messages” and also have marked any other things you would like to receive.
- As we add new features, classes, and information, you will want to revisit the “Follow Schools” tab to make sure you are subscribed to everything at the school you would like to see.
