We strive at SCCC for continuous improvement in the quality of our instructors, programs, technology, and facilities for the benefit of our students. Most students utilize and transfer skills learned in our programs throughout their lives as they enter further studies, work, and become life long learners. My teaching experiences of twenty three years and seven years in administration provides me with a realization that career and technical education really does change lives by building skills. Career and technical education programs and instructors work to make connections for our students between education, training, and work experiences. We encourage our instructors to develop the 3 Rs of the 21st century: Rigor, Relevance, and Relationships to improve student achievement.
South Central Career Center, located in West Plains, Missouri, is an area career and technical education center for students from ten high schools in a four county area. Junior and senior students from Alton, Bakersfield, Dora, Koshkonong, Lutie, Mountain View-Birch Tree, Thayer, West Plains, Willow Springs, and Winona have the opportunity to attend any of the career programs at SCCC for which they are qualified. Career and technical programs prepare students for work readiness and for the transition to further studies past high school graduation. Another option that some SCCC students choose is military service. Graduates are eligible for specialized placement in the armed forces because of the quality, highly skilled training they receive. SCCC offers assessments and certificates based on national business and industry standards that help prepare students for success in today's highly demanding and competitive workforce. Our instructors are highly skilled professionals that hold industry and teaching credentials. Our classrooms and labs are equipped with current technology and equipment to provide students with the skills needed to be successful in a competitive global market. SCCC short term courses for adults provide individuals an avenue to develop the skills and competencies they need to succeed in today's workplace. Adults (16 years and older) may participate in learning opportunities to develop new and emerging job skills, ease workforce transition, and enhance career development.
